APPEARANCE
The dark black charcoal color or MAC 52 Pavement Sealer improves the appearance of new or old asphalt pavements.
Unprotected asphalt surfaces generally lose their rich black color due to oxidation and weathering. In time the pavement will begin to look rough, dull and gray. An application of MAC52 Pavement Sealer makes the pavement look for uniform. Rough spots, patches, oil spots, small cracks and surface depressions seem to disappear. The pavement looks cleaner because rainfall washes dirt and debris from the smooth, nonporous surface. Traffic lines become more visible. MAC52 Pavement Sealer beautifies asphalt surfaces and helps to create a favorable impression and image with friends, customers, employees and the general public.
PROTECTION
MAC52 Pavement Sealer protects the pavement by forming a tough, flexible coating over the surface.
Unprotected asphalt surfaces are vulnerable to the destructive effects of water, oxygen, chemicals, salts, gasoline and oil spilage. These elements weaken, destroy and soften the asphalt binder. The pavement ages, looses flexibility and may crack prematurely creating the need for patching and major repair. MAR52 Pavement Sealer stands between the pavement and the elements while it seals in the strength and resilience of the pavement. It prolongs the useful life of the original pavement by keeping the surface intact, flexible and alive.
SEALCOATING 101
Most asphalt is created using a complex combination of hydrocarbon/tar based binders with aggregates such as crushed stone of various sizes. When it is mixed at the asphalt plant, the “recipe” is combined in a large hopper and heated to more than 300 degrees. The extremely hot mix is trucked directly to your jobsite and must be graded immediately before it starts to cool and becomes too difficult to work with. Once it is smoothed and compacted, it is generally allowed to cool and “cure” for several days before it is ready for use. Of sourse in our eyes a well graded smooth, fully compacted asphaly driveway or parking lot is a beautiful thing.
There is a very important second step that is needed to keep that asphalt surface protected and looking good!
As soon as a new asphalt surface is installed it very slowly begins to lose the essential oils and hydrocarbon binders that hold the aggregate together. Although this process is slow, over a period of years it can lead to brittle asphalt, a graying surface, cracking and other asphalt problems. Adding to this loss of oils is the cumulative degrading effect of sunlight and UV radiation, gas/oil drips, snow plows, heavy vehicles and weathering. In order to help your asphalt retain those oils and binders that hold it together (and to resist new damage) it is very important to seal the asphalt with a high-quality commercial sealcoating product.
MAC 52
Mac52 pavement sealer, a quality sealer, will provide this “skin” of protection and can be applied 30 – 60 days after new asphalt is installed or anytime thereafter. This simple periodic maintenance can double the life of your pavement, reduce the likelihood of larger repair issues and provide a jet black finish for your asphalt that will beautify your home or business. This is a perfect example ofa common sense low cost procedure that can save you significant amounts of money in the long run.
ECONOMY
Mac52 Pavement Sealer is a maintenence coating which will substantially reduce annual maintenance costs and the cost of extensive pavement repairs
The cost of dirt, dust and litter removal is cut in half. Painted lines last longer requiring less frequest striping. Extensive patching is significantly reduced while the need for eventual resurfacing is greatly delayed or almost eliminated. Statiastics over a 15 year period show that a regular application of Mac52 Pavement Sealer results in maintenance cost savings of 42% to 50% compared with similar unprotected pavement. A proper application of Mac52 Pavement Sealer doubles the life of sound asphalt surfaces and is a minor expense when compared witht he cost of replacement.
APPLICATION INFORMATION
Mac52 Pavement Sealer may be applied to any sound asphalt pavement. New pavement must be allowed to cure prior to application. Specific application procedures and the rate of application is governed by the age of the pavement, the condition of the asphalt, the weather and the amount of traffic that the pavement will receive. Silica sand may be added to Mac52 Pavement Sealer when extra traction is desireed or specified.

OUR PROCEDURES
Over 20 years of experience has led us to develop an extremely efficient and high quality process which includes:
Hand and power cleaning of the surface to eliminate dirt, stones, weeds and residue
Power edging and cleaning of cracks/seams that need to be repaired
Crack filler to eliminate additional water penetration
Cleaning and initial sealing of any oil or gasoline spots to encapsulate them and stop their destructive action
And 1 or 2 coats of Mac52 Pavement Sealer over the entire surface
All of our work is hand applied to ensure an even coat.
